Hi everyone, hope you are all ok. I havent been able to get onto the computer for ages!! What with Katies exams, Jack getting his stuff ready for his big interview, then Katies prom, its been hectic!!!

Exams fininshed, prom beautiful and waiting to hear good news hopefully for Jacks interview. What did that leave me? Very very tired, did too much and now have very sore wrists and other bits andpieces! Suppose it was my own fault really, but felt ok, just kept going and going and going! Now im paying!

I was on sulphazalazine but reacted badly to it so agreed with the rheummy nurse to see how I got on for a couple of weeks with just taking the mx, hydro etc and regular painkillers. I think Im going to have to cave and ring and ask to see someone as I know I need another dmard but am so nervous about taking another one as the sulph had such awful side effects.
Does anyone else have any experience of any others??

Counting down the weeks until school holidays start as Im off for 6 weeks, its all thats keeping me going at the moment!!

Hope you are all well, speak soon

Heather xxxxxx

Hi Heather,

Sounds like you've had a very busy time indeed!

I also did not get on with Sulfa ... one dose and I was really sick. There is still Leflunamide as an alternative DMARD after which I suspect they'll put you forward for Anti-TNF's if they don't already decide to do it now.

That's the real problem with RA ... the very lengthly process of finding the right drug combo for you.

Definitely have a word with your rheummy team as the current combo clearly isn't enough.

Hi Heather

Sorry you are having trouble finding the right medication. I was first put on Methotrexate, then moved onto Sulfasalazine. Had to stop this as it gave me incredible headaches. Moved onto leflumonide but this did not work. Then moved onto Anti-TNF's. Tried Enbrel but had a bad reaction and now last week started on Humira and to date no reactionThumpUp It has taken me 18 months to get to this stage. It is definitely trial and error with each person. Don't give up and keep pushing for new medications as there are lots of alternatives out there and eventually you will find one that suits.

Take care

Jackie

Hi Heather
sorry to hear problems with sulph,
keep asking - keep trying,
sounds like you definitely need some other meds - dont give up tho'
The right one's out there somewhere, they just need to help you find it,

Let us know how you get on,

Its been SO hot and humid here - Im flaring bit badly at the moment - my hands all sausagey looking :(
Im managing things by doing as little as possible!
Take care ~ love Liz xx

Hi all, thanks for the replies. I'll see how I go over the weekend and then ring the rheummy on Monday if it doesnt calm down. Part of my problem is that I think Im still in denial and also I dont know how good are you meant to feel when these drugs take effect? Do you feel like before RA????? I do genuinely believe that your body gets used to pain and you cope with it and its only when Ive had steroid infusions and felt no pain that I realise I was in pain, oh dear Im rambling again!!

Anyway, its the weekend and we've got a quiet one thankfully, so feet up in the garden and rest rest rest!!

Have a good one my rheummy pals!!!

Love Heatherxxx

Welcome back from me too Heather!
I certainly have never got back to how I was pre-RA , I don't know about anyone else.
We can dream!
